IRC - NEW APPLICATION FORM

All rating certificates are valid from 1st June until the 31st May of the year of issue.  Ratings therefore need to be renewed ("revalidated") each year if you wish to race.  This can be done at any time of year, but please allow enough time before your race to avoid disappointment.

New applications
If you have a completed new application form you may send this to us at any time.
If you want to apply for a rating for next year please note that the IRC application form will be changed slightly for next season, the new version of the form is usually published on this website just before Christmas, together with the new fees etc.

Revalidations (renewal) for next year.
An IRC yearbook for the new season will be sent to every owner who holds a current IRC certificate, together with a separate form inviting you to revalidate the certificate for next year.   These are sent out during the first week of January (to avoid the Christmas post!). PLEASE NOTE ! the revalidation form will be loose in the envelope with the address showing in the window - please don't throw it away with the envelope !

Any change of address or ownership not advised to us before the beginning of December may not be taken into account.  If we have to send out a duplicate book and form (if your mail is not being forwarded) we may make a charge of £5.00.

Revalidation forms will be sent for Sportsboat Rule in a similar way, but not necessarily at the same time.  IRM revalidation form are sent from the IRM Class Association, and a copy of the Rulebook will be sent to holders of certificates at the end of the year.

If your boat held an IRC or SBR rating certificate which has lapsed, and you want to renew it, please contact us so that we can send you the appropriate form.

Trial certificates
We regret that we cannot run IRC or SBR trial certificates on the new programs until the boat holds a valid current certificate.  If you apply for a trial certificate at the same time as revalidating or applying for the first time, we will run it at the same time.
The Rating Office has just undertaken a complete re-write of the IRC software into Access.   This means that we can now import all the data direct from an Excel based application form; in order to achieve this we have had to produce a new version of the application form which must be used with immediate effect.

Please therefore read the IMPORTANT notes below:

PLEASE DELETE ALL PREVIOUS VERSIONS OF THE EXCEL IRC APPLICATION FORM THAT YOU MAY HAVE BEEN USING. Only the new version of the application form must be used from now on.

The Application Form

The Application sheet is essentially the same as previous versions. With the obvious exception of any cells into which data must be entered, this sheet is locked.   It is a read-only file so you will need to save it under the boat name/sail number as described at the top of the form.

The Validations sheet is new and is very relevant. It is for your use in checking the data. It is completely locked and may not be edited. It works as follows:

Column A:         Lists all the variables to be validated.

Column B:         Shows any variables or other data that is required and is MISSING.

Column C:         Shows any data that has been entered which is PROBABLY ERRONEOUS.

Column D:    Shows any data which is at variance from the norms to be expected. It is therefore WARNINGS

Please DO review the Validations sheet for your application. If data is missing or probably erroneous, we will simply come back to you before running the application.

The Standard Hulls sheet shows those designs for which we should be able to use standard hull data.

The Keel types sheet shows the drawings you need to answer the question about the single fin keel type.

The Access Import and Inputs sheets are locked and not relevant to you. We read the data from these into the IRC rating calculation software

Please DO NOT send a new application for a new boat more than once. If you have corrections to make or additional information to send, please simply send us an E-Mail detailing the specific changes, or use the new trial/amendment form (included in zip file below)

If you have any queries, please get in touch.
